The First Step: Site Assessment

If you are interested in investing in solar power, the first step is having a site assessment performed. There are many variables that may effect the feasibility of having a renewable energy system installed on your home or business. These variables include:

• Roof angle and orientation
• Roof integrity, age and its ability to withstand loads
• Your solar window (how much shading your site has and how the seasonal solar angles will effect this shading throughout the year)
• Site specific issues which include land topography, surrounding structures and possible open spaces near the house or building for pole mounted panels
• Utility company you currently use as some are easier to work with than others if you are planning to use a grid-tied system
• Current energy usage from household loads such as ovens, washers, dryers, heaters, appliances, lights, shop tools, dehumidifiers, air conditioners and furnaces

The site assessment also covers conservation measures you can take to help lower your energy footprint. We also offer pertinent references specific to your interests and needs.

The cost of a site assessment is $150. $100 of this fee is credited to the cost of any installed system.
